UPDATE ON THE YAMBA TRIATHLON
8 November 2024
I am writing to update you on the planned activities for your Yamba Triathlon.
As of this afternoon I am pleased to say we are confident the full triathlon will proceed next weekend.
A big thank you to the local stakeholders who have been fantastic in their support to ensure your Yamba Triathlon can continue.
Again, I apologise for the incomplete information during this process, but felt it best to keep you informed directly from our team.
Our team are working through the final approval processes, and the next update will be sent to all registered athletes on Tuesday.
Entries have now been reopened for any last minute friends and family who want to join you on the start line in beautiful Yamba.
Yours in multisport,
Kevin Pready
Race Director
SCHOOLS CHALLENGE
This year we are excited to launch the Schools Challenge proudly brought to you by the Yamba Multisport Club!
An initiative to try and get more families involved in triathlons. The Schools Challenge is a competition where the winning school, determined as the school with the most parents, teachers, and students entered, will receive a $500 donation to the PE Department thanks to the Yamba Multisport Club.
All you have to do is select your school when registering!
TEAMS CHALLENGE
Proudly supported by Velocity Physio, the Teams Challenge is a competition with the aim of getting more locals participating. Two teams will be walking away with a $300 cash prize.
Prize 1: $300 cash prize to the first team across the finish line.
Prize 2: $300 spot cash prize awarded at presentations to a team present.

Yes. All distances have a minimum age for participation. For more information on age restrictions please visit the activity page you are interested in.
Age group racing is determined by your age as of 31 December 2023 and grouped in five year brackets (i.e. 30-34, 35-39, etc.).
In some cases we will consider this, but we will need a letter from an accredited Triathlon Australia coach confirming that they are capable to compete at that distance which then needs to be reviewed and approved. This letter can be sent to yambatri@nxsports.org.
All In teams consist of three people who each complete all three legs of a tri each; Relay teams involve each team member doing a single leg of the triathlon.

The Yamba Tri welcomes individuals and teams from 7 years and up.
NXsports actively encourages individuals with additional needs to compete in our events. Please get in touch with our team on 1300 28 29 49 to discuss how we can accommodate you.
Wave start times for each distance will be finalised in the week of the event, after official entries have closed.
Yes, each triathlon participant receives a timing chip as part of their race pack which is to be worn on the left ankle. For Relay Teams there is one timing chip which must be passed to the next relay member. Results are released online by late afternoon of the event.
We do recommend you leave all valuables at home however if you have a bag & personal belongings you can leave this in the bag storage area whilst you race. Bag storage varies by location so make sure you check your Race Guide.
It’s too early to tell at this stage. An indicative temp will be taken the day prior and the official water temperature will be checked the morning of the event.
Wet suits are only permitted at less than 20 degrees for opens, and less than 22 degrees for age groupers.
We do everything we can to ensure everybody has support and completes their race. We are still pending final approvals from Council, so we do not have the exact curfew times yet – but our planning takes into account all the previous athlete times on the course over recent races to ensure everyone finishes (particularly the cycle as it relates to road closures).
Absolutely – but all bikes must be in a safe working condition.
Yes, helmets are compulsory to participate in the event. When you enter transition to ‘rack’ your bike, you will need to put your helmet on – at this time our technical officials will check that this is safe to wear for the event.
You are not permitted to race with any music devices including mobile phones, MP3 players, earphones etc, this is a very serious safety risk to you and the participants around you.
All teams wishing to set up tents will be asked to do so in the designated areas. With the event operating in the centre of town it is important for the safety and consideration of competitors, spectators and locals that team tents are only erected in permitted areas. Call the office if you would like some more information.
